Quick Overview

ZP3AB-NLM1 Network Loop Module

Ziton ZP3 Class A network loop card (VERSION 1)

ZP3AB-NLM Network Loop Module

The Ziton ZP3AB-NLM network loop module enables individual ZP3 control panels to be connected in a peer to peer, secure loop network.

If there is an open or short circuit present on the network wiring, the NLMs determine where the fault lies, isolate the faulty section of wiring and maintain full loop integrity.

Total cable length, throughout the network can be up to a maximum of two kilometers. On larger sites, where wiring runs to remote systems may exceed this maximum, cable lengths can be extended by setting designated NLM modules as booster units (contact Ziton technical support department for full details). Communication between loop modules operates by RS 485 protocol, over screened, twisted pair wiring.

NLM modules connect to Ziton ZP3 control panels via a ZP3AB-NET card and are designed to fit onto an auxiliary chassis inside each control panel or auxiliary equipment cabinet.

Each Ziton ZP3 control panel is connected to the loop network through a NLM module, all modules incorporate switch settings enabling them to be assigned a unique loop address. The booster operation is also selected by switch settings provided on the module. Within the network, one module is set to address one and is designated as the master loop monitoring board, through which the fault location and fault finding processes are controlled.

LED indicators are provided for System OK, Loop Fault, Data Error and Loop Open. When activated, Term Left and Term Right indicators, show in which direction from the NLM module the loop fault is located.

A fault identification facility can be operated from any NLM module in the network. The loop fault, data error and system OK indicators are utilised in a diagnostic mode, to establish between which two modules the loop fault exists and therefore which section of the loop wiring has been isolated.

Standard Features:

  • Provides secure loop network
  • Complies with BS 5839 recommendations
  • Booster capability for long cable runs
  • Powered from each panel
  • Loop isolator
  • Fault finding diagnostics
