ZP720-3 / PRRPHDI2004
Analogue Heat Detector
GE Security is pleased to announce the introduction of the new ZP720-3/ PRRPHDI2004 analogue
heat detectors. These detectors are an upgrade of the current versions
ZP720-2/PRRPHDI2000, which encompass latest manufacturing advancements.
They will be introduced in conjunction with the V3 panel software launch for the ZP3/PAI
fire alarm panels.
These new heat detectors will be shipped during May 2009 and simultaneously the
ZP720-2/PRRPHDI2000 (current versions) will cease manufacture.
It is important to note the compatibility of the new detectors and fire alarm panel software. The
new detectors are only supported by panel software v3.03 upwards.
In this regard anticipated questions and solutions.
The Ziton ZP720-2 and Photain PRRPHDI2000 heat detectors are referred to as –2 below.
The Ziton ZP720-3 and Photain PRRPHDI2004 heat detectors are referred to as –3 below.
• Q: Will the -2 heat detector be available in the future?
A: No. The –2 detector will cease to be available post May 2009.
• Q: Is the -3 heat detector compatible with all software versions of ZP5/ZP3/PAI fire
alarm panels?
A: No. The -3 is compatible with ZP3/PAI software versions 3.03 upwards only.
The -3 heat detector is NOT compatible with ZP5 fire panels.
• Q: Is the –2 detector compatible with all software versions of ZP5/ZP3/PAI fire alarm
panels?
A: Yes. –2 detectors are supported by all software versions of ZP5/ZP3/PAI fire alarm
panels including version 3.03 upwards.
• Q: I have an installation with version 2 software fitted in a ZP3/PAI panel. Can I replace
existing -2 heat detectors with –3 heat detectors and if not what are the possible
solutions?
A: No. The solutions are:
1. Upgrade panel software to v3.10 (This will require a line driver PIC upgrade); or
2. Fit a ZP732/PPDPHDI2000 Combination Sensor and isolate the optical chamber.
This will result in an isolation indication on the panel; or
3. Fit a ZX832/PPDPRRI2000 Intelligent Multi-sensor and choose profile
5, 6, 7 or 8 as appropriate. This solution results in no isolation indication on the
panel.
